Question of the Day: Day 164

Do other people have expectations of you that are sometimes difficult to live up to? How do you handle that?

Yes, sometimes, some people do have such expectations. I think that a lot of that is based on who they would like me to be, rather than who I actually am. Every once in a while, I need to remind those around me that I am a person first... that I need time for myself in order to replenish & be able to give of myself. Occassionally, I have had to reframe their thinking by telling them that it is not my job to please "them"... that while I do NOT aim to add to anyone's misery & would like to contribute to others' happiness, it is their responsibility to take care of themselves & to be whole & well.

I just do what I do.

Other people's expectations belong to them and not to me. They only become my problem if I choose to pick them up and make them mine.

This has been especially challenging sometimes.
