Do the ends justify the means?

Maybe there is some sceneiro where this might be acceptable in the abstract, but humans don't operate in the abstract, do they? Justification is a tricky concept, and a wronged person is usually at the end of the solution to that which requires it for the ends.

More important than if you get there... is the journey along the way... how you get there.

If the situation is about personal gain or self-promotion then the ends do NOT justify the means. Personal integrity is far more important than personal gain.

Now, the exception to this rule that I would cite would be in cases of immediate danger, I would most likely intercede and believe that the ends would, indeed, justify the means.

I would damage someone's property (shatter their windows or whatever) to save their lives. I would take a child (technically this is kidnapping) to the nearest police department if I observed someone (even a parent) abusing or molesting them.

I would take my chances with the legal system if a life or safety was at risk.
