What are some reasons why it might be important to be nice or respectful to someone that you do not like?

So inside you know you are a good person. It can be so many different reasons, like you have to show respect to your boss or you can be fired,It does not mean you have to like them, It means you just have to respect them. So the reason to respect or be nice to someone is that it's just the right thing to do.

I think it might be important to be respectful to someone you don't like because you might need something from them later on in life. What if you get in a car crash and you need help, they could chose to be a jerk about it.

I can't think of very few reasons not to be decent to others.

Reasons to treat people decent:

Do unto others as you would have done to you.

Karma

To set an example

Not to dissapoint yourself.

We should be considerate and well-mannered with everyone because it is the right thing to do.

If someone else's behavior is so abhorrent that I just cannot stand to be around them then I would remove myself and be somewhere else.

If they were hurting other people then I would ask them stop, step between them, and/or call the authorities.

If we lose our own temper and become disrespectful to other people then we lose our own credibility.
