Question of the Day: Day 109

If you saw a total stranger break the law, would you turn them in?
Would you do the same thing to your friends and family?

Well, break the law as in stealing for survival? Or break the law as in felony hit and run? As with all things, there is a certain sense of weight that should be carefully considered when judging what we see.

That would depend on the seriousness of the law which they broke. If it were a minor infraction, I would most likely have a conversation with them & bring it to their attention that what they have done is illegal & that I am giving them a break. However, if anyone were to do harm to another person- rape, or hit & run, for examples, there is not a doubt in my mind that I would report them- regardless of who they were.

It depends on the law - I would not hold my family to a different standard than I would a stranger (or myself.)

If it was something small like taking a candybar then I would probably just offer to pay for it (which lets bot the person and the store know what was happeneing) and I would do that for a stranger or a friend/family member.

If it was something that causes harm to people then I would let them know that I knew about it and give them a short amount of time to make it right themselves or I would notify whoever needed telling. Again, I would do that whether it was a stranger or a family member or a friend.
