Question of the Day: Day 114

Are you really helping a friend or relative if you keep covering up or making excuses for their mistakes?
Why or why not?

No.

We come to this world not to be perfect but to learn. We need to help each other learn. Sometimes that means letting them make their own mistakes so that they can learn from them.

It's OK to help them clean up after their mistakes but only as long as they are the ones who take responsibility for the mistake.

No, you are most definitely not. This is called "enabling", and it hurts everyone involved. Mistakes are made, until someone knows they're doing wrong, then, it is NOT a mistake anymore.

Absolutely NOT. No one will not be around to save another's butt all the time. There are consequences in life & the sooner people learn that, hopefully, they will make more thoughtful & honorable decisions.

No, because it isn't "helping" at all.

It is enabling and can even be crippling if the person is never given the chance to learn and face the consequences of their actions.
