Question of the Day: Day 27

If you had to choose whether to give up your sight or your hearing which one would it be and why? (not choosing means losing both)

oh my music or my art.

this is difficult to decide. but i think silence wouldn't be as bad as not seeing anything. because you could still feel things. vibrations etc.

I have bad vision, and I know that Beethoven wrote a lot of great music while deaf - but, for me there is not much of a debate - I would give up my sight, hands down.

Neither. There is far too much beauty to be missed by either, and I am daily grateful for both.

I think I'd go with sight.I would miss it of course. But with sound,it(sight) can be recreated. And there are great sight dogs out there, but not 'sound' dogs.

I would prefer to loose my hearing. Without sight I would be lost. I would not be able to do the things I love; walking, cycling, driving etc., if I was blind and I would also be a great burden on my family and friends.

I would give up hearing in a heartbeat before I'd give up vision.

I can see the words "I love you" even when I cannot hear them and I can carry the songs of my life in my memory and hear them when I choose to in my mind.

I want to be able to SEE if and when my sons get married and and I want to look into the faces of any grandchildren that I might have while I hold them. I want to see the sun rise and set for as long as I can. I want to see the humor and love in the green eyes of my sweetheart for another 50 years.

Initially, I thought I would prefer to keep my hearing because I totally love music, but a loved one mentioned that I would totally become dependant on others to be mobile. Also, it seems more jobs would be available to me if I could still see. And, like Michelle said, I could still understand others by seeing their facial expressions. Besides, I could still feel music, because I'd still crank it up! (I'm probably already losing my hearing!)

Sight. Same reason as b - my music. Couldn't loose that.

I would rather lose my sight than hearing.

I love music and playing and it would be much harder to do this without hearing than seeing, although Beethoven composed his greatest work when he went deaf.

But to be completely frank I would rather have both hearing and seeing. I love to draw too and see lots of different things like the sunrise and sunset.

If I had to choose wheather to give up my sight or hearing I would choose to give up my hearing. For me I would want to see what goes on around me instead of not being in a total place of darkness. If I couldn't see I wouldn't be able to pursue my dream of writing. If I couldn't write I would loose the best part of myself.

"So Sight It Is!"

I think I would like to losse my hearing, beacuse I would like to be able to see my kid's and family. Also because I could try to get my hearing fixed later on in life
