Question of the Day: Day 206

Where does the stereotype that "guys just want one thing" come from? Do you think that it is true?

Maybe , we get that idea from studies that supposedly have been done and show that the majority of the time, men are thinking about sex?

Just what I've heard and observed thru the years..**shrugs**

Do you want to know what I think~ what I really really think? I think that the idea that men only want sex is a half truth. I think that maybe some people, without even realizing it, consider sex to be an acceptable way for a male to be vulnerable- i.e. emotionally expressive without appearing too feminine- maybe.

I think that worthy of consideration, is that men are brought up to think that they are abnormal if they don't want it.

Could be that there is so much mundane unpleasant stuff in their daily lives, nookie is like a prize for there daily grinding/stressful efforts.

Or, there is the possiblity that women are more powerful than they reallize & than men will admit. Maybe, we just rule in rocking there world!

Overall, it's probably about procreation... our bodies are made for reproduction~ althought in this day & age, we have options so as not to... that biological innate urge is still there & "we" don't even realize that that's what's going on!

P.S. Real men want more than sex!

My rambling response:

We are hard-wired for sex - women, men - sex is an instinct fuelled by hormones. Whatever.

I think this problem that "guys only want one thing from every woman" stems from; lack of education, double standards (guys should be randy, and women should be virgins)- it's frustrating to be a horny guy in a world where you're supposed to "score", but as soon as you do the girl becomes a "slut" that has been "conquered" - it's a bunch of crap. Unfortunately, some guys never learn any better because they've been trained to be ashamed to ask, or learn. ("A Man Has to Be Tough, Son") :puke:

I think it's one of the most overstated and overrated mistruths that, by pounding it into the heads of our kids through media and tradition, we cause to fester.

Many guys do only want sex from women, and will drop them like a bad habit as soon as they get what they want- fatherless children abound.

It's a hell of a lot easier to be a horny "guy" than a loving man.

we all like to belive there is some logcal answer for that sterotype because we dont want to admit that we are selves are the ones that carry it on. it doesnt matter who said it first its who still carring it on through out the world. women are mainly the ones pointing the finger...i admit ive pointed the finger once or twice but when you turn the tables some women just like some men think about just getting some and then saying goodbye. so yes the saying is true up to a certain extent but doesnt mean there are some good men out there.
