What, in your opinion, are the qualities that a good teacher should have?

We are looking for answers to some hard questions as we dig deep inside and explore our own core values and how that guides not just our own lives but the very world that we live in. These questions will be asked to a group of high school students but we would also like to hear from the world at large. While we hope to keep this forum wide open we do reserve the right to delete responses that we find to be offensive or combative in nature. Thank you for participating with us.

My opinion is that all of them should be like Michelle and Debbi from a school in Rdding,CA. And I also believe that the aid's in some school should be more like the one's in North vally school's. All of the people named above are careing loving, and honest. They care for all of the kid's that go to that school know matter what the kid as done or is like, They treat all of us the same they all care some more than others but,they are all in my definition of great teachers and teacher aid's. They are all great people that do care about others!!!

to me i think a good teacher is when they communicate with there students not just give them work. a good teacher is having the ability to be taught by your own student and feeling like you did your job when they graduate.
I think that every person has the potential to be a good teacher if they come from the heart, have passion for what they are doing, and can listen better than they can talk.
I think that they should be like my teachers Michelle,Debbi, Denise.
They tend to play around with the students. And if we do it back they don't get mad. I think that teachers should have a good sense of humor. I also think that they should be loving.
They must be:
Nuturing
Good listeners
Non judgemental
Open to new ideas
Good communicators that convey the joy of discovery.
Be willing to practice "teacher as student"
Lead the student to self discovery rather than always providing the answers.
Did I say nuturing?
