Question of the Day: Day 352

What skills do you think that a teenager should have when they get their very first job? Why are those specific skills important?

I've seen a lot of talented youngsters show up at a job site with the attitude that they "like the job (because of the paycheck) but hate the work." So, I believe that attitude is more important than all the skills that they possess.

I've worked with an extremely skilled 18-year old who shows up every morning and the first thing he says is, "I'm tired already."

If I were an employer, I'd look for an inexperienced first-time worker with a good attitude towards work. I don't need a know-it-all who won't want to sweat it out like everyone else. I'd rather train a hardworking and eager to learn teen.
