Question of the Day: Day 303

Do you think that same-sex marriages should be legal, illegal or not under the jurisdiction of the law at all? Why or why not?

I think marriage should be completely irrelevant to the government - taxation, health, probate, as well as morality issues should be considered independently of whether or not people are involved in a committed relationship.

Hetero, homo, or transexual relationships should be regarded equivalent and unimportant - the importance of those relationships should only be considered by those involved in them.

I think that making a personal commitment to another human being is just that, personal in nature. I've come to believe that marriage as we know it, is a legal contract that often times binds two people- unfortunately- far beyond the time when they should have parted ways.

There are legal & other advantages & disadvantages to marriage...

Overall, I think that I am indifferent on this one. It doesn't really impact my life personally. So long as it doesn't hurt anyone- live & let live.
