Question of the Day: Day 297

Do you think that most adults understand what teenagers are feeling and going through? What, if anything, would you say to teenagers and/or adults so that they might communicate more effectively?

Telling me what is going on in your head is more important that worrying about what you think is going on in mine.

Open up, let it out, you cannot surprise or shock me by what you feel - it's already written all over your face.

Don't fret, don't fear - if you speak your truths and fears out loud, it will get better.

Overall, I do think that adults understand waht teenagers are feeling & going through- but that what adults do not understand is where their (teens) brains/heads are at.

I have told my teens that they can tell me ANYTHING, and they have told me some things which were difficult to hear, but I did not respond over-emotionally, with shock, or with judgement. Rather, it opened up some very insightful & useful conversations.
