I am more of a follower. I follow rules pretty good. And I don't complain, even if I don't like the task.

Some good Qualities in a leader are fairness, understanding, patience, competence and know how.

Some good Qualities in a follower are dedication, works well with others, team player, willing to learn.

I think that the qualities of a good leader are:

Communication Interpersonal Skills

Knowledge about whatever it is they are leader of, & Emotional Intelligence

Ideally, have experienced being in the position of the lowest man on the "totem pole"

Be approachable

Slow to anger

Have integrity

Be intuitive

Know when desperate times call for either, strictly by the book OR bending i.e. being flexible, when it just makes good common sense

Not be condescending or act as if he/she is superior to others

Lend an empathetic ear... be a good listener

I tend NOT to want to be a leader, but to be a mindful follower who has her own thoughts/ideas & will make the leader & everyone else aware of them, & who will question~ not necessarily defy authority; that is unless I feel extremely conflicted in regard to a particular request, in which instance~ I will be insubordinate & have to deal with the consequences.)

I have been both a leader and a follower at various times in my life.

I think that a good leader should have "vision" and that doesn't just mean the ability to see where one is going though that, too, is important. By vision I mean that they should be able to see many possibilities and hidden potential. They should be able to "see" when those folowing them are struggling or need a boost. They should be able to see that sometimes you can lead better from the back than y ou can from the front when you empower your team to meet and exceed all of their expectations and hopes and dreams.

A good follower should have the courage and trust to follow someone that is balanced with an awareness of dangers and hazards so that they do not blindly follow those who are not truly worthy leaders.

I tend to be a leader but I would like to think that whichever one I am doing that I am doing it as well as I can and learning from any mistakes that I make along the way.

Qualities of a good leader: Able to see things from different points of views, able to lead peers without bossing them around, fairness, honesty, patience and vision. Qualities of a good follower: Able to follow with curiosity and not because they feel that they have to in order to keep a friendship, knows where the leader is taking them.
I am both a leader and a follower. I like to lead and be in charge of things, but without bossing people around, and I like to follow examples that the grownups in my life are setting.

You don't have to hold a position of power to be a leader, you don't have to have people reporting to you. You can lead by example - strive to excel in whatever it is you do. Always look for a better way. People will respect you for what you've accomplished and your opinions will matter to them. In that moment you've become a leader!

Both need good listening and communication skills. Both should be willing and able to realize the responsibilities of their positions, and those of the person or people in other positions. Both should be open to valid criticism toward improvement.

Good leaders should be willing to pitch in and do whatever is necessary to support and augment the performance of the rest of the group.

Good followers should not let their status keep them from thinking, making observations and suggestions, and being able to accept that those suggestions may not be used, or even taken seriously.

I am a (generally) a lone wolf (Ouuuuuuooooooo!), but I am happy to work as either a leader or follower in a group, until a project is completed.
