Question of the Day: Day 331

Would you keep forgiving someone who continues to do or say hurtful things to you over and over again? What would you do?

Yes, I would continue to forgive... if I didn't I'd harbor resentment.

I would likely ask them what's - the real deal- at the bottom of their need to say such hurtful things. However, if it continued, I would distance myself from anyone who continually attempted to make me feel badly.

There is a poem that I love so much that I try to apply it to my life daily. It is called "Anyway" and it's by Mother Teresa. It goes like this:

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-center; forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God; it was never between you and them anyway.
-----------------------------------

and I like to add what someone does to you, if they don't repent, they will have to answer to Heavenly Father. It's between them and Heavenly Father.
