Question of the Day: Day 321

Have you ever looked for something (physical or intangible) and it was right in front of you the whole time but you just couldn't SEE it? Why do you think that happens?

It wasn't there earlier. I've checked that spot three or four times already and I didn't see it there. Someone must be playing tricks on me.

It happens to me a lot of times, when I was in grade school, in my teens, and even now when I already find amusement in seeing it happen also to my kids. So, age isn't a factor. The only explanation I can think of is the way we condition our mind to look for something somewhere. We could be unconsciously dictating our mind to expect a thing to be at a predetermined spot that we tend to overlook where it's actually at.

yes it has happened to me. I dont know. maybe the little fairies living in my apt moved it.

Seriously? I believe that at times when I am looking for something that is very important at that very moment, i tend to focus on my stress of misplacing it other than seeing the object in its place.

Most of the time its in a pile of stuff that i still haven't cleared, or in my purse that has so many holes, it tends to eat things, and i have to completely empty it to find anything!

Possibly. I think that this happens when we are looking elsewhere for the thing that we've come to believe no longer is, or never was...

"Sometimes the snow comes down in June, Sometimes the sun goes 'round the moon..."

As for tangible items... everyday mental distractions & preoccupations.
