Question of the Day: Day 214

Where is your "safe" place? Is it a real place that you go to when you are stressed or is it a memory that gives you comfort?

i do the same. i pray. and try to remain centered. remind myself of all the good things that have happened to me in my life.

and lots and lots of breathing. deep cleansing breaths.

My safe place is my room - now, I just need to make it a clean, safe place.

I meditate there, and hide from noise and confusion (unless I need to take care of it), and I can be myself, naked, whatever - without judgement or reproach.

With 6 kids, it is a sanctuary that's less than perfect, but, it's something.

Some of my safe places aren't physical spaces at all... it's the calm imagination of my mind's eye. Another is music; I discovered at an early age that I can "escape", most situation or mood, temporarily, through music. Being near running water (streams, lakes, waterfalls, etc. always makes me feel at ease. I've a friend whose voice & words are loving & nurturing, when we talk, I feel safe.
